My first Islander was a square back twin fin and was one stoked kid when Brian invited me and Rick Settlemire to be members of the Islander Surf Team around 73". I always liked hanging around the factory there behind Hutson's Hardware and never felt unwelcome ( or never sensed i was ! ) Brian was always good to me as a kid letting me stay at his house now and again on evenings when I knew the surf was going to be pumping the next day .He was the west side answer to keeping it real .
